Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO), one of Germany’s largest providers of social services, is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year. For over 100 years, this organisation has worked to promote solidarity, tolerance, freedom, equality and justice in our society, with astonishing success.

Reason enough for the regional association AWO Mittelrhein to celebrate 100 years of AWO with 900 guests at Cologne’s Gürzenich event centre. At this memorable ceremony, the anniversary motto “True AWO. Since 1919. Experience for tomorrow” was evoked as an emotional experience through a varied sequence of videos, podium discussions, talks and performing artists. This ceremony, framed by a bold, colourful stage set, centred on the people, the history, and above all the future of AWO.

The hashtag #WIRMACHENWEITER (“#StillGoingStrong”) at the end of a flying picture show marked the end of the commemorative event and the start of the 100-year party taking place throughout the entire Gürzenich centre.

After a superlative pitch, AWO Mittelrhein commissioned welcome GmbH to prepare the overall concept complete with organisation and implementation in close cooperation with the client.
